The Alabama Donut Trail

The Birmingham News has put a lot of hard-work into establishing an official Alabama Donut Trail .

I’ll be heading through the state later this year and am looking forward to hitting old favorite Duchess Bakery in Cullman but the one that really has me intrigued is Cothran’s Bakery at 440 George Wallace Drive in Gadsden.

Here’s a nice human interest article on the 55 year old bakery.

Cothran’s got its start as a Shipley’s franchise way back in 1962. It ran as part of corporate for 32 years before becoming a mom and pop in 1994.
