Hi Tide Bar and Grill’s onion rings are the Dead Sea Scrolls of the genre.
Words that start on the salty breeze of New Orleans East waft upriver to the Irish Channel, Black Pearl and all the wards in-between.
Located Mississippi-bound on the old US 90 East just a 20 minute car ride from New Orleans proper, the restaurant sits just down the road from where Jayne Mansfield was killed in a horrific car crash on June 29th 1967.
A recent visit to the restaurant found the fry cook operating in some rarefied air as everything that came out of the kitchen was in top form.
Including the onion rings, the finest I’ve ever eaten in Louisiana.
